Three of the five founding board members and officers were from the San Francisco Bay area, where two are emeritus Stanford University biologists, and the third is an artist and writer specializing in Science Art and birds. The fourth founding board member is a naturalist, artist, and author who resides in Seattle and the fifth is a research psychologist, specializing in nonprofit service development and evaluationresides in Pittsburgh.

The current officers include an emeritus Stanford University biology professer, an emeritus Florida State University professor specializing in entrepreneurial and corporate finance, and an artist/writer/curator.
